I am the owner, dyer, and overall personality behind The Ginger Needle. I started this business in 2020 because of reasons that really don't need to be mentioned or else I may trigger trauma in all of us. It is my firm belief that you can have a variety of interests that don't center around the stereotypical yarnie because today's fiber artists aren't like our grandparents. (Note that my Grandmother was the absolutely bomb and being around such a strong and independent woman is exactly why I am who I am.) My interests outside of yarn greatly influence the colorways I dye: from space and planets to National Parks, from games like Horizon Zero Dawn to books.

I took this business full time in 2025, but prior to that I also worked in the space industry. I spent 7 years at NASA Johnson Space Center as a Flight Controller for the International Space Station's Environmental System and Astronaut Trainer. My favorite equipment onboard is the Urine Processor (I got to know this box very well, so don't get me started on this topic or I won't shut up). I moved to California for my Grandmother and transitioned to the private industry until my retirement from engineering.
